January 15 - Day 7
We woke up this morning to the promised forecast, rain, rain and more rain. We showered and headed over to breakfast at Fire and Ice. Wonderful food and coffee. No problem there for sure.
After breakfast, we headed out to hike. We hiked to the top of the Conical Hill. On a nice day, apparently the views are breathtaking. But we could see absolutely nothing. It was foggy and as far as we knew, there were no mountains anywhere. It was very green and the trail was nice but you had to talk to yourself to keep a decent attitude. We hiked about 3.5 miles and by the time we finished, we were soaked clear through, in spite of our rain jackets. I was wet down to my underwear.
Matt and I came back to the room, stripped and attempted to hang our clothes throughout the room. We turned on the heat and tried to dry out. We had a box lunch that the tour director gave to us earlier. Matt had packed it in his backpack though our hike. Normally, there would be a nice spot on the hike to eat but we didn’t do that. It was too wet and awful. We ate in the room. A sandwich, granola bars and some muffins. Decently good.
We both laid on the bed for a bit after lunch, trying to warm up and fell asleep for a few minutes. After we woke up, we put on our suits and headed to the hot spring pools. There are many pools here, including children’s slides. There are pools of every temperature and therapy, with sprays to massage. We enjoyed ourselves and the rain actually let up a bit for a while which was nice.
After cleaning up and showering, it was time to eat again! Tonight we are eating in a local Indian restaurant. The food was delicious. Can’t complain about the food here. We’ve had so much good food. We sat at a table with Ingrid, one of the ladies on the tour who is traveling solo, and our tour director, Esther. We had some great conversation. It was an enjoyable evening.
After dinner, it is raining very hard again. We came back to the room and are trying to dry out our suits and our jackets in anticipation of our day tomorrow.
I am not loving the weather but still enjoying my time here. Admittedly, it is mostly because I am with Matt, who always has a great attitude, and is such a great companion.
Tomorrow, we raft and visit a sheep farm. And it is supposed to rain all day again.
